What happens to the dry ingredients when you add water?
Do the dry ingredients change? How?

What would happen if you added a little more oil to the play dough mix? Try it and see!

Let the kids experiement with their own formulas to make the best play dough. Spead newspaper out on the floor or on the table. Put the flour and salt in seperate bowls. Put water in a container that pours easily, (pitcher). Place the oil in a squeeze bottle for easy handling and measuring. The easiest way for kids to mix these ingredients is with their hands, just like making bread dough. ADD COLOR and SCENTS to the play dough for EXTRA FUN!

TRAVELIN'' LEARNING GAMES

Let's face it riding in the car for any amount of time is a PAIN with little kids...So when I was in this predicament i came up with tons of distraction for them....Otherwise I know my little people as I have always called them would have driven me right over the edge...Of what? I am not sure ... I hope your kids love it and that you will find the peace you need

My first advice for tips inthe car is to buy a lunch box --the old aluminum one--fill it with the list of contents I am to give you----and pull it out when it is time to leave...or for convenience have it already stashed in the trunk or backseat....

*****************************************************************************

1. Flashcards of all kinds (Use age appropriate ones) Can find these at 1$ store

2. Color Crayons/Colored pencils are easier to keep track of if they are older

3. Clipboards (one for each child, the best kind is the one that opens up to store items in and locks closed)

4. Sing Along Tapes/CD's-Some of these may seem a bit corny but for the younger kids these are optimum learning opportunities since kids can always remember a favorite song.

5. BIGGEST HIT WITH KIDS--Dry erase board (Paper size) with 3 diff colors dry erase markers per child (buy ones with eraser on end of marker)

**************************************************************************

While the above supplies should keep them pretty occupied for the most of your trip there are always going to be those times when you need to jump in and get their minds engaged in NOT GIVING YOU A HEADACHE...Here are some GAMES you can encourage them to play....

1.Every child writes down the name of "THEIR" car on their dry erase board or Paper and everytime "THEIR" car is seen they get a point...Everytime a child sees another players car before they do they get their point as well as one of their own...THIS GAME CAN GO ON FOR HOURS....

2.THIS IS A CLASSIC---You start the game by explaining that we are going to go through the alphabet with every object we see...Start with A (Apple tree), next player has to come up with a B- object they see...Every player gets a point for their findings and if a player cannot come up with a letter they are skipped and the next person takes their letter...This goes on until someone gets to 20-25 points THAT PLAYER WINS the game...

THIS SHOULD GET YOU STARTED...SEE ME NEXT WEEK FOR SOME NEW IDEAS on in the car games.....
